(Chai) Tea Thursdays

Today, I want to talk about Chai. A rich drink, full of spices and warms your whole body. There are tons of brands, flavors, and options. You can make them with water, milk, (even soy and almond) or cream. I’ve tried a lot but,  My favorite brand of chai tea is a powder mix called “Big Train”.

Big Train carries spiced, vanilla, raspberry, and gingerbread flavored chais. There are low carb options too! To create my favorite cup o chai, (12oz) take one scoop of powder mix (I love spiced), and coat with hot steaming water. Mix until the powder is completely dissolved. Then add you’re choice of milk (hot or cold, I like Soy), and stir until well blended. Finally add some whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkles 🙂

Another popular brand of chai is Oregon Chai, they have so many flavors- in powders, concentrations and tea bags.

I also love reading “A Beautiful Mess” and they featured a recipe you can make at home:

Spiced Chai, makes 2-3 servings

Needed: 2 bags black tea (any kind), 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and 5 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk.

Fill a tea pot with 5-6 cups water. Add the tea bags and bring to a boil. Stir in the spices and turn the heat down to low. When you are ready to serve add 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk to each cup. Pour in the hot tea and stir to dissolve the milk. Serve with a cinnamon stick! xo. Elsie

If you have a keurig, try the India Spice Chai K-cups- add a splash of cream or milk for an easy cup!

Enjoy your chai!
